I wrote about pets and pet food before but never wrote about the pets that run around in my house and in the yard.
We have several pets. We have a dog and a cat and outside we have a few rabbits that the kids have to feed every day and have to take care of in general. Just to teach them responsibility.
Personally, I don’t like my pets to be too close to me in the kitchen while I am cooking but it is hard to keep them away. Especially when I am talking about cats since they tend not to listen to anything you want them to listen to.
Dogs are different and that is why I am probably more of a dog person and not too much of a cat person. I don’t mind having a cat but it is hard to bond with a cat I think.
The cat
Back to the subject of having pets in the kitchen. My cat knows to stay away from me while I am cooking and does not bother me too much. Unless he is hungry then he will come to his bowl to eat something.
The dog
My dog is a totally different story. He loves to be in the kitchen and perhaps trying to catch some scraps while we are cooking. After training him for what seemed to be forever we finally have him stay in his dog bed. It took us a while to find the perfect pet bed for him and the cat but we found the on this website https://petbedfinder.com/.
Many people try to keep their pets out of the kitchen but I found that to be impossible unless you have a kitchen door that you can close. We don’t have a kitchen door so we had to do the trick with the dog bed.

My take on pets in the kitchen
Sometimes I am more worried about my children coming too close to the stove than about my dog trying to come close to me while I am cooking.
Our children are relative young and are always willing to help. Although I admire that I still believe that they should stay away from pots and pans that are hot or filled with hot ingredients.
It is after all easier to explain to a child that something is hot and to stay away from it than to teach a dog or, even worse, a cat.
That means that I am not afraid to have my pets in the kitchen but I prefer them to stay in their pet bed and wait until I call them for a bite.
I can imagine that you look at this in a different way. Especially if you have pets that shed very bad I can see that you don’t want them in the kitchen at all.
